A few months ago, Barbara Maffeo’s niece, Liz Jennings, wrote a positive story about her and her experience at the Melrose Dahn Center in Melrose, Massachusetts. According to the Melrose Weekly News article, Barbara suffers pain from Fibromyalgia Syndrome. She was feeling exhausted every day before she started taking classes at the Dahn Center. It says that nowadays she has lots of energy, doesn’t take medication for joint pain, has a positive outlook, and has lost 25 pounds. Nothing else seemed to help her get better. Barbara has also taken a lot of Dahn programs besides the basic classes and has put a lot of effort recently into helping put on the Shim Sung workshops. She is a nurse and decided to help other nurses by making it possible for nurses to get contact (continuing education) credits for taking Shim Sung. When Liz tried a Dahn class she started with a knotted, painful back. By the end the pain was gone, she felt relaxed, did not have a million thoughts in her head, and had the best night’s sleep in a long time. The next day she says, she was a little sore, like she had a good workout.
