According to Ilchi Lee, if you would like to change a habit, you should replace it with a more healthy one. But we can’t do it in a day. In fact, it takes at least 21 days for our brains to recognize a new pattern as “normal”. Our old habits have strong neural pathways because of repetition. So we need to repeat an overriding habit enough to strengthen new pathways.
Of course, it is easier to do this if you have help, or someone to do it with, so the Dahn Yoga centers in the U.S. are starting to offer a 21-day change-a-habit/miracle-making training event (that’s the official name I think). Through this training can work in a group and encourage each other
What habit would you like to change in 21 days? Why don’t you share it here? I personally am trying to overcome my resistance to pushups and have promised to do 50 pushups every day. I hope to gain stronger arms and a more open heart. Wish me luck!
