Tension and your True Self, Shim Sung

I found another Chinese proverb that seems like a perfect reflection of the Dahn Yoga practice:

Tension is what you think you should be.
Relaxation is who you are.

Through Dahn Yoga I release the tension in my body and my mind, allowing my natural ki energy to flow. Then my essential nature, or true self, is able to come out and be expressed. Often, tension is created by my preconception of who I am or who I think I should be. My preconceptions were created by a lifetime of experience influenced and reinforced by my expectations of who I should be or who I am. They often create disharmony inside as they bump into what my true self wants, resulting in tension in my body and negative thoughts and emotions. Through my Dahn Yoga training, especially the Shim Sung workshop and Dahn Healing System, I have realized that the best way to be healthy and free of tension is to make my actions match what my true self wants. All of the techniques and exercises I do uncover what my true self wants and give me the physical health and power to carry it out. Having healthy, flowing energy and following my true self is the same as saying I have “normal” brain waves that all of the cells in my body are integrated with. (For more about normal brain waves and their relationship to health, happiness, and peace, please see previous posts and especially visit www.ilchilee.com.)
