What is this thing called a “dahn-jon” that Dahn Instructors are always talking about? A dahn-jon means an energy center in Korean (dahn is the Korean word for life energy…that’s why we’re always talking about energy). In regular class, instructors are usually referring to the lower dahn-jon, or what is otherwise known as the second chakra.
A dahn-jon is a pretty amazing thing when you become personally acquainted with it. I’ve been getting reacquanted with mine lately. Being acquainted with your dahn-jon means you have part of your mind there all the time. That’s what really makes me feel centered and in the moment, and like I don’t have to worry about anything. Everything is ok and I can do anything. Even when life may appear topsy turvy, if I’m paying attention to my dahn-jon, I can stay calm and find the right answer or appropriate action.
Would anyone like to share about their relationship to their dahn-jon? Feeling your dahn-jon and strengthening the feeling and energy there is one of the most basic Dahn Yoga concepts and practices, but today it feels like the foundation of everything else I practice and study.
Hello. I feel my dahn-jon and to me it feels like a storage unit. If I put my attention on my lower dahn-jon then I feel a sense of security in any situation. Energy permiates my body and I feel very peaceful. Focusing on the dahn-jon is a great way to live life.
