I’ve been writing a lot about New Year’s resolutions for different newsletters recently, and it allowed me to come across something Ilchi Lee wrote about managing your goals. It’s already been published on other websites such as www.ilchi.com and www.brainwavevibration.com, but I thought it was worth sharing here as well. It gives you a good idea about how Ilchi Lee, who devised Dahn Yoga, thinks about the brain. It can also help you understand one way a Dahn Yoga practice can help you. It’s very simple, yet profound, as Ilchi Lee often is.
“Are you happy, right now, in this moment?
If you can answer without any hesitation that you are happy, then you are already practicing effective goal management—wouldn’t you be happy if you’ve already achieved your heart’s desire?
If instead you are having difficulty making your reality follow the wishes of your highest self, you need to learn better goal management. There are three aspects of your life you need to manage well in order to manage your goals: your mind, your time, and your physical fitness.
All three of these aspects are related to each other. You must manage your mind in order to manage your time. You must manage your time in order to manage your physical fitness, and when you manage your physical fitness you can affect all aspects of your life.
The most important of these three aspects, and the one you should start with, is managing your mind. But what does it mean to manage your mind? Mind management is actually brain management because the brain is the seat of your mind.
Brain management means training your brain so that your thoughts reflect what you really need to achieve your goal. If your brain contains negative, detrimental thought patterns, you will not be able to achieve any goal. But these thought patterns are often hard-wired into the structure of your brain through years of repetition.
