Aarti (Hindi)-

Worshipping the Deity by encircling with a lamp.

Ädi-

First, beginning, original.

Ätma-

Individual Spirit.

Baddha-

Obstructed, bound by the fetters of existence.

Bandhan-

Tying, knot, connection.

Bhüt-

Disembodied spirit.

Chaitanya-

Consciousness, the Universal Spirit.

Chit-

Consciousness, attention, soul, spirit.

Chitta-

Thought, attention, mind.

Deva-

God; the Devas rule the physical aspects of creation.

Devï-

Goddess.

Guru-

Teacher, gravity, heavy.

Loka-

World, realm. There are 3, 7 or 14. (see Gayatri mantra)

Mahä-

Great, higher.

Mantra-

Sacred speech (from man-'to think' -= 'instrument of thought')

Moksha-

Liberation, enlightenment.

Nirmala-

Unsoiled, pure, immaculate.

Püjä-

Worship, adoration of the Divine.

Räkshasa-

Demon, from whom we need protection.(Tom raksh- 'to protect')

Sahaja-

In-born, natural, spontaneous.

Shakti-

Energy, power.

Swâminï-

Owner, master. (fem. of swami)

Vidyä-

Knowledge, learning.

Yoga-

Connection, union.
